CONVERSATION, LESSONS 18-20
Goals and Expectations: The conversation section of your course should develop your ability to: • Use Arabic to communicate with others • Understand and appreciate the cultural contexts in which Arabic is used • Reflect on your own culture(s) through the study of other cultures • Practice cognitive learning and social skills
Our class will attempt to practice the following: 1. Exchange of information, opinions, and experiences in Arabic 2. Understand and respond to communication in Arabic 3. Understand basic cultural aspects of language use.
Language Skills : In order to achieve these objectives, we will concentrate on listening and speaking, both individually and collaboratively.
Course Structure To develop your knowledge and understanding of Arabic, we will practice communicative tasks across a range of themes and topics in various activities: 1. Drills that help us to identify and repeat words, phrases and sentences heard in meaningful contexts in Arabic. 2. Skits through which we will practice verbal interaction used in daily routines. 3. Creative exercises that include handouts, acting, and preparing dialogues. Homework is mandatory.
